How to generate a favicon
- Upload a square logo or image (or click Load sample to try it out first).
- Every standard favicon size is generated instantly, cropped to a centered square.
- Download each size individually, then paste the head snippet into your site's
<head>.
What favicon sizes do you actually need?
Browsers, phones and operating systems all request a slightly different favicon size depending on where it's displayed, so most sites ship several versions rather than one image.
| Size | Used for |
|---|---|
| 16×16 | Browser tab icon |
| 32×32 | Taskbar and bookmarks bar, retina tab icon |
| 180×180 | Apple touch icon (iOS home screen) |
| 192×192 | Android home screen and PWA icon |
| 512×512 | PWA splash screen and app icon |
Adding a favicon to your website
Once you've downloaded the sizes you need, upload the image files to your site's root (or an assets folder), then paste the generated <link> snippet into the <head> of every page — or just your shared layout template if the site uses one. Browsers and devices will automatically pick the size that matches their context.
FAQ
Is this favicon generator free and private?+
Yes. Every resize happens on-canvas in your browser using JavaScript — your image is never uploaded to a server.
What kind of image should I start with?+
A square, high-resolution image with a simple design works best. Logos with small text tend to become unreadable once shrunk down to 16×16.
Why do some of the smaller sizes look blurry?+
This usually means the source image was too small to begin with. Starting from at least 512×512 gives every generated size room to look sharp.
